My lifelong memories of Anne will be of a woman who combined warmth and unrestrained love with unflappable poise and dignity. I'm not sure how she carried it off! I am so glad we saw Anne and Brian last year after so many years' absence, and I am also so glad I managed to reconnect with Su and Chris at the funeral. It was surprisingly emotional for me, I think because Brian was a childhood friend of my dad, Phil, who died in 1985 - there are so few people left now who remember him. But I was very happy to be there, and I hope we will maintain a stronger connection now.
